Hardy Morris, Terminally Phil, The Moody Motel — Despite the unfamiliar venue (apparently a private residence), Athens’ singer/songwriter Morris, a co-founder of that city’s well-regarded Dead Confederate, has been releasing wistful, strummy, often dreamy Americana albums for a while. He has a new one, Artificial Tears, due next week which is produced and mixed by My Morning Jacket guitarist Carl Broemel. Just that connection assures attention will be paid to Morris’ laconic, thoughtful, easy-going country infused folk/pop and may bring his engaging music to more ears. — Hal Horowitz
