GEORGE THOROGOOD & THE DESTROYERS - “THE BADDEST SHOW ON EARTH”

CRITIC’S PICK
Sat., Aug. 30
George Thorogood & the Destroyers, The Fred Amphitheater — It’s “The Baddest Show on Earth” as Mr. ba-ba-ba-ba bad to the bone Thorogood unleashes his patented meat and potatoes raw blues rocking with nearly the same energy, if not as much passion, as when he started 50 years ago. He has long ago dispensed with releasing new music (his last album was in 2011), but no one comes to a Thorogood show for the new stuff anyway. They are there to revel in his gruff, scruffy, gritty, American rocking that ramps the boogie to 11 and never lets up. He’s now 75, and there’s no telling how many more tours he has left in him. This might be one of your last chances to see an American blues rock icon tear it up. — Hal Horowitz
From the venue:
Get ready for a rock 'n' roll experience like no other! George Thorogood and the Destroyers are bringing “The Baddest Show on Earth” to The Fred Amphitheater on August 30, as part of their Bad All Over The World – 50 Years of Rock Tour!
It all began back in 1973 at the University of Delaware’s Lane Hall when George, Jeff Simon, and their rhythm guitarist first hit the stage, playing a set filled with their favorite blues and rock covers. They were a young, energetic trio, full of passion and determination, with no more than a borrowed PA and a lot of heart.
Fast forward 50 years, and George Thorogood and the Destroyers have played over 8,000 shows, sold more than 15 million albums, and earned a reputation as one of the most electrifying live acts in rock. With hits like "Bad to the Bone," "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," and "Who Do You Love?", their high-energy shows have left audiences in awe across the globe.
This anniversary tour is a celebration of their incredible career, with George, Jeff, and the rest of the band giving it their all every night. The Destroyers' shows are a mix of blues, rock, and swagger, built on a foundation of humor, heart, and a true love for the music.
As part of their ongoing commitment to charity, a portion of the proceeds from this tour will benefit The Marla Thorogood Memorial Fund for Ovarian Cancer Research, along with partnerships supporting veterans, the homeless, and those in need through Musically Fed.
Don't miss your opportunity to witness one of rock's most enduring legends, celebrating 50 years of music, memories, and the ultimate live experience.
