About Jonathan McDowell

Jonathan McDowell flexes his diverse culinary muscles as the Executive Chef of Elektra, Moonlight, and the FORTH Club Members Dining Room, all located at FORTH: Atlanta’s first-of-its-kind boutique hotel and members-only social club in the Old Fourth Ward. Guests indulge in his Mediterranean-inspired menu poolside at Elektra, flash back to the 1970s with light bites and unique cocktails at Moonlight rooftop bar, and enjoy New American cuisine any time of day at the Club Members Dining Room.
A Los Angeles native, McDowell spent his childhood summers at the family’s farm in Tennessee and cooked with his grandmother. She noticed his culinary interest and talent emerging and encouraged him to pursue a career in the field. McDowell would go on to enroll at the Le Cordon Bleu-affiliated California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, CA. This led to roles at restaurants including Saddle Peak Lodge, Flagstaff House, and Patina, before he became Executive Chef at Blue Velvet.
In 2010, McDowell moved to Atlanta, GA with his wife Grace to be closer to family and began working as Executive Chef of Roya, a Mediterranean tapas bar and restaurant. During his tenure, McDowell fell in love with Mediterranean ingredients and added traditional Persian, Turkish, and Greek cuisines to his repertoire. Most recently, McDowell worked at popular Atlanta staples like Barcelona Wine Bar, Delbar, and 9 Mile Station in Executive Chef and Culinary Director roles.
At FORTH, McDowell is committed to elevating Atlanta’s dining scene through exciting menus that reflect the variety of cuisines he’s mastered over nearly 25 years. Leading the teams at Elektra, Moonlight, and the Club Members Dining Room gives McDowell the exciting chance to show off his plethora of skills, both front- and back-of-house. He’s eager to foster his teams’ growth and exceed guests’ expectations.
