Liz Cooper
CRITIC'S PICK:
Thurs., April 30
Liz Cooper, T.Hardy Morris, The EARL - Singer/songwriter Cooper left initial band The Stampede behind years ago, but as the title of a just released album New Day implies, the non-binary artist has evolved substantially. The approach shifts from jammy Americana to introspective indie rocker for their most vulnerable and exposed collection. Cooper's floating, ghostly voice takes us through darker psychological recesses on songs that hover and flit around ominous beats and lyrics. Opener Morris (ex-Dead Confederate) is a recurrent visitor from Athens. He plays music from a new Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket) produced and assisted album Artificial Tears. - Hal Horowitz
