Kid Congo Powers and the Pink Monkey Birds, The Sleevens, Uneven Lanes, The EARL - Anyone who has logged time playing with grime-punk garage legends like The Cramps, The Gun Club and even Nick Cave is going to be worth seeing regardless of the current membership of his revolving door backing duo. But based on the roaring, swamp-stomping That Delicious Vice (2024), Powers remains in fine, ghoul-voice mode, using his trashy reverbed guitar to grind out shape-shifting horror-styled rocking with some artsy avant-garde and Latino musical off-roads. After 45 years of experience, Powers knows how to ladle that stuff out with filthy intensity. - Hal Horowitz
