The Price by Arthur Miller, Theatrical Outfit — Arthur Miller’s most autobiographical play, set during the Great Depression, is being staged at the Balzer Theater by the same team that produced ‘Remember This’ and ‘The Lehman Trilogy’ for Theatrical Outfit. Miller, the revered playwright known for ‘The Crucible’ and ‘Death of a Salesman,’ was considered one of the 20th century’s greatest dramatists. He gained notoriety outside the theatre too: Miller notably defied the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1956 by refusing to identify suspected communist writers, resulting in a contempt conviction that was eventually overturned on a technicality. (At the time, Miller was married to Marilyn Monroe). When ‘The Price’ opened on Broadway in 1968, Clive Barnes of ‘The New York Times’ called it “superbly, even flamboyantly, theatrical… and Miller holds the interest with the skill of a born story-teller.” — Kevin C. Madigan

From the venue:

From the team behind Remember This and The Lehman Trilogy, comes a brand-new take on Arthur Miller’s (The Crucible) classic – THE PRICE – a riveting story about the struggle to make peace with the past and create hope for the future. Set in the attic of a crumbling Brownstone in New York City, two brothers battle for their birthright in the wake of their father’s passing. The cast of The Lehman Trilogy – Andrew Benator, Brian Kurlander, and Eric Mendenhall – return for Miller’s most personal and riveting play exploring the true price of the choices we make or fail to make in life.
