Carter Faith with Abbie Callahan at Smith's Olde Bar
CRITIC'S PICK:
Thurs., Feb. 26
Carter Faith, Smith's Olde Bar - Nashville thrush Faith has been releasing singles for six years but just got around to her first album, Cherry Valley, last October. The singer/songwriter's sweet, dulcet voice and honeyed songs go down easier than you'd expect on gloomier titles like "Sex, Drugs, & Country Music," "Misery Loves Company" and the darkness permeating "Drink Up Baby." Smooth, but not overly commercial, Faith reveals a love of early Dolly Parton with lush mountain melodies and trilling vocals. She's clearly primed for bigger stages so catch her now in this tiny space. - Hal Horowitz
