Rose Hotel, Biznar, Julia Barfield, The EARL - As the alias of Atlanta-based Jordan Reynolds, Rose Hotel works an often dreamy, neo-psychedelic country/folk vibe that's cool and gauzy, as well as an unusual approach to the typical indie singer/songwriter sound. She has a lovely, effortless voice that meshes naturally with this off-center style which has shifted to moderately more commercial waters with last year's A Pawn Surrender. A trippy day-glo single covering Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood's "Some Velvet Morning" captures this vibe which shape-shifts song to song. Cool and genre bending at its best. - Hal Horowitz
