The Woggles, Star Bar - Has everybody's favorite garage rock outfit ever played anywhere else in town? They might have done a few dates at the EARL, but the Star Bar has been their venue of choice for the past 30 years as frontman "The Professor" Mighty Manfred has led a changing array of true believers through their raw, roaring paces. Their most recent release, Time Has Come, is two years old, but with a catalog as relentless and powerful as their caffeinated sound, you never know which unlikely cover or deep track gets pulled out. According to their web page, even the stodgy NPR folks recommend you "Go see a Woggles show. It will change your life." They nailed it. - Hal Horowitz
