A native of Chicago, Myra J’s path to comedy is as inspiring as it is hilarious. After earning degrees in Communication and Education and working in social services, one visit to The Comedy Store changed everything. Within days, she was on stage, launching a career that would take her from stand up to radio, television, and beyond.

Myra became a fan favorite on the syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show, where she served as the beloved Poster Child for Single Moms and helped co create the hit radio soap opera It’s Your World. Her writing and acting credits include Martin, Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, and Meet the Browns, earning her NAACP Image Award and Humanitas Award recognition. In 2016, she also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
