2026 African Film Festival Atlanta: "Stand Together as One" (Day 4)
From the venue:
"Stand Together as One"
In 1983, as famine and civil war ravaged Ethiopia, courageous journalists risked everything to expose a humanitarian catastrophe the world could no longer ignore. Directed by Chip Duncan and produced alongside Salim Amin, Stand Together As One: The Famine, The Music, The Impact traces how frontline reporting sparked an unprecedented global response.
Featuring the final on-camera interviews with Harry Belafonte and USA for Africa organizer Ken Kragen, the film revisits the historic collaboration that united artists like Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones for the recording of We Are the World. Through restored footage and powerful testimony, the documentary reflects on music’s ability to mobilize compassion, raise millions, and create a blueprint for collective action that still resonates today.
