The Blues is Alright, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center - This 20 year old festival "blends old school storytelling with the smooth, feel good groove of contemporary R&B," according to its publicity. In other words, if blues fans have not heard of headliners Tucka, Pokey Bear, West Love, J-Wonn and others, it's because their connection to that genre's roots is at best superficial. Still, it's a popular annual attraction and any event that widens the boundaries of blues and introduces the music to more folks who may then dig deeper to appreciate legends such as Buddy Guy and others, is worthy of mention. - Hal Horowitz

The 20th Annual ATL Blues Festival comes to Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, April 11 at 8:00 p.m. Today’s Southern Soul and modern Blues scene blends old-school storytelling with the smooth, feel-good groove of contemporary R&B. It’s music born from Saturday night dance floors, Sunday morning truth-telling, and every moment in between.
