Kokoroko at Buckhead Theatre
CRITIC'S PICK:
Thu. Jun. 11
Kokoroko, Buckhead Theatre - If you need an extra source of hope, joy, and positive vibrations in your life, look no further than Black London-based band Kokoroko. The soulful eight-piece outfit delivered their sophomore studio album, "Tuff Times Never Last," on July 11, 2025. Inspired by what the band calls "heartwarming representations of black family, community, and resilience," the LP was a masterful amalgamation of sounds birthed from the international African diaspora, from afrobeat jazz and '80s British R&B to West African disco and bossa nova. As its name suggests, "Tuff Times Never Last" feels like a warm and understanding hug at a family reunion, in the same way that Ernie Barnes's timeless 1976 painting "The Sugar Shack" does. Now, nearly one full year later, Kokoroko are finally bringing their infectious record across the pond for a 12-date North American tour. Their second stop is at Buckhead Theatre, where they will usher in a night of soul, rhythm, and immaculate vibes. - joshua robinson
