Josh Rouse at Eddie's Attic
CRITIC'S PICK:
Wed., June 10
Josh Rouse, Eddie's Attic - Troubadour Rouse has been releasing compelling, often introspective indie folk/pop since 1998. He made a major breakthrough in his crowded genre with 2003's album 1972. The title track and "Flight Attendant" ultimately became the two most streamed songs in a catalog that numbers over 15 albums, all well-crafted and engaging in an early Paul Simon style. His whispery yet engaging voice floats through easy-going melodies that drift effortlessly out of his guitar. Rouse's most recent release found him covering largely obscure material from inspirations like Nick Lowe, The Go-Betweens (the title track), Jackson Browne and others. He'll surely toss some of those into a set otherwise filled with his melodically-rich originals. - Hal Horowitz

Josh Rouse live at Eddie's Attic!
Josh Rouse & his band will play the some of favorites from the rest of his career. Drawing from the sounds of the year of Rouse's birth-- it evokes Marvin Gaye, Carole King and many others-- The AV Club described it as follows: "Rouse shadows the sophistication and perfection of classic pop, trying to replicate its power to make listeners feel more at peace with their awkward relationships."
