As captivating as they are twisted, the Prison Farm legends toggle the line between myth or fact. The Farm began as a large experimental prison way back when, and is now the largest piece of untouched land ITP. While some truths on the history of the Farm have been proven, mysterious activities keep the ghost stories alive. There’s something beautiful about a deserted and mysterious place - maybe it’s fear that brings people together. Regardless, this graffiti-covered, forsaken farm definitely makes the BOA list.

Off the beaten path and underpublicized, WESTVIEW CEMETERY is one of the most picturesque spots in Atlanta. At nearly 600 acres, it’s the largest cemetery in the Southeast, boasting many of the features beloved of graveyard enthusiasts: ornate monuments and tombs, rolling hills and gardens, and, of course, famous dead people, such as author Joel Chandler Harris, Coke founder Asa Candler and assorted mayors. Westview also stands apart for a magnificent stone abbey, its high walls and original gates and its iconic water tower resembling a castle turret. 1680 Westview Drive. 404-755-6611. &emdash;www.westviewcemetery.com.

Since 1977, YOUR DEKALB FARMERS MARKET has been offering everything from heirloom tomatoes to durians, barracuda to buffalo in its bustling ailes and well-stocked display cases. The noticeably quirky outpost — Check your bags! No right turns! — is a go-to spot for drop-ins hankering for a quick lunch fix or gourmands searching for quality ingredients. If your out-of-towner is fascinated by the inner workings of a farmer’s market, you can schedule a tour. If they’re enamored by helping the environment, the onsite recycling center — with compost how-tos at its entrance — will make their green heart flutter. 3000 E. Ponce de Leon Ave. 404-377-6400. www.dekalbfarmersmarket.com.
