The small liberal arts college is graced with a beautiful campus of granite and concrete neo-gothic buildings. The school was founded in 1835 in Milledgeville, making it one of Georgia’s oldest. But it closed its doors twice for extended periods and was reopened at its current location in 1915. Classes are small and admissions are relatively competitive for its 1,100 students. Well-known for its Georgia Shakespeare program. The small museum is also worth a look.
