Clear Soul Forces bring Detroit legacy at 2012 A3C

Clear Soul Forces plays the Masquerade on Sat., Oct. 13

From a hip-hop perspective, when the city of Detroit comes up in conversation, artist like J Dilla, Slum Village, Eminem, Elzhi, D12, and Big Sean come to mind. Next in line is Clear Soul Forces, the Motor City’s latest rap group to make waves in an already overcrowded pool of artist. Noveliss (formerly J-Roc), L.A.Z, Ilajide, and E-Fave decided to combine their individual lyrical efforts to form the group one night in the studio after it was suggested by Royce Da 5'9." Since then the group has been touring across the country regularly, in support of their album titled Detroit Revolution(s), and when they aren’t performing they're locked in their home studio, dubbed "the Complex," perfecting their craft. With smooth flowing lyrics and seamless transitions between each others verses, creating a vibe that draws from the New York street poets of the ’70s, providing inspiration by expressing their feelings about the realities of their surroundings and everyday life.

Catch them at A3C on Saturday, October 13 on the Jakprints Stage at the Masquerade. 6:45 p.m.
