Black Lips Jared Swilley talks Music Midtown and Atlanta
Jared Swilley, Black Lips bassist, interviewed with WREK on their appearance at Music Midtown, the Atlanta music scene and their love for their home town.
This past Thursday, Jared Swilley of the Black Lips called in for a phone interview with WREK to help promote their presence at Music Midtown coming up. Little did he know that questions about the music scene in Atlanta would be brought up.
Swilley, the usual spokesperson of the band, replied with poise, saying that Atlanta, "is really the only place maybe besides Detroit where you really have a huge crossover between genres." He mentioned several cities that have signature genres, but Atlanta has a mixture of said genres, making the city very eclectic and easy to cater to all tastes.
Swilley also spoke high praises of Atlanta in general, being it that it's his hometown, mentioning Cyclorama as one of his favorite places to go, and how he wishes that he can come back to guest host New Forces, WREK's (WREK 91.1 fm) punk rock show that he started many years ago.
The WREK interview will air on WREK News on September 19th at 7,8,9 and 11 am as well as 2 and 4pm.
