Spin diagrams the hip-hop galaxy: Atlanta downgraded to a dwarf planet
This may be the most goosebump-inducing 44 minutes you’ll spend listening to a piece of music this year.
?
Spin magazine's December issue is dedicated to hip-hop's DIY movement moment — interesting choice of words — with stories on the new underground (i.e. cats building major buzz online without the help of major labels), 2011 rap darlings Odd Future, and Alabama regular guys G-Side.

But here's the hook: Spin's Insanely Obsessive Infographic Tries (In Vain) to Diagram the Hip-Hop Galaxy click link to see it bigger. Rolling Stone did one of these about a decade ago (which I've never been able to find on the Internet), needless to say shit's changed since then. Now there's an Industry side and a New Underground side, with Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss cast among the former as Older Dudes Who Weasel Their Way Onto Radio, while relative newcomers Blu, Skyzoo, Fashawn, and Torae are defamed in the latter along with Guys Who Still Think It's 1993 (ouch!).

As for Atlanta, well, the pickins are sorta slim on the Underground side, which doesn't bode well for the city's future (speaking of which, where's Future?)
