Panavision to open film equipment facility

Not to be confused with Zoo Atlanta's Pandacam, motion picture equipment supplier Panavision plans to open a 10,000 square foot rental facility in Atlanta in Feb. of 2011. According to a new article in the Hollywood Reporter:

Panavision has supplied equipment on several recent Georgia-based productions, including the films Get Low and For Colored Girls, AMC's "The Walking Dead" and Lifetime's "Drop Dead Diva." Panavision is now providing equipment for Universal's Wanderlust and series "The Game."

"We applaud the State of Georgia for taking a progressive position in providing significant financial incentives to filmmakers to attract business to the region," said John Schrimpf, vp of U.S. regional operations at Panavision. "Atlanta has become a very attractive place to shoot because of the variety of locations, its strong infrastructure and its excellent distribution system with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Both the state and city of Atlanta are totally behind building a lasting, film-friendly culture, and Panavision is pleased to be part of the team providing local customer support."

Panavision's incursion, not unlike the record-breaking ratings of the "Walking Dead's" season finale, offers one more sign that Atlanta has become Hollywood's favorite film location.
