Haunted Houses
Netherworld For those adventurous, brave and perhaps a bit fearful, Netherworld returns for another season of terror, strobe lights, and fog machines. The Dead Ones bring ancient evil, Illuminati myths, and other chills as the main show. May dread and panic ensue. $25-$53. Through Nov. 2 in Norcross. www.fearworld.com.
Chambers of Horror Open seven nights a week, Chambers of Horror is back and ready to incite fright in all attendees. Pound back a couple to get that liquid courage flowing and listen to some live music while you wait for your number to be called. This is an adult-only house of horror; must be 18 and older. $17-$45. Mondays-Thursdays, Sundays, 8 p.m.-12 a.m. and Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.-1 a.m. Continues through Nov. 2. Masquerade, 695 North Ave. 404-577-8178. www.chambersofhorroratl.com.
Containment Containment is a 25,000-square-foot, quarter-mile long maze of haunted house mayhem. The haunt (which takes guests along a 1,300-foot trail of terror through several scream-inducing scenes) is the largest of its kind in Atlanta, and is the only large-scale haunt inside the Perimeter. 7 p.m. Through Nov. 3. Scoutmob + The Goat Farm Halloween 2013 For the third consecutive year, the Goat Farm and Scoutmob team up to create a spacey, surreal phenomenon, complete with experimental music, exclusive art installations, and a 12-foot astronaut puppet. The Dos Equis Masquerade Dos XX, Power 105.7, and the Southwest Porch at Park Tavern bring Halloween Haunts to Piedmont Park this Halloween. Music, $1 Dos XX, and a costume contest with the grand prize of a trip to Los Angeles to see Pearl Jam at the L.A. Sports Arena on Nov. 23. $5 donation. ATL Collective Presents: Michael Jackson’s Thriller
MJ’s greatest, Thriller, comes back to life on Oct. 30 at the Sound Table with an incredible lineup of ATL-local musicians to relive this album. Get those costumes ready. Oct. 30-31, 9 p.m. $10. The Sound Table, 483 Edgewood Ave. atl-collective.com/thriller.
The Buckhead Creepy Crawl This year’s Creepy Crawl includes five Halloween-themed shots, bands, DJs, a costume contest, an after party, and specials on food and drinks. The costume contest and after party will take place at Park Bench and Stage Coach at midnight with prizes for the best male, female, and group costume. Attendees will venture through six bars: Buckhead Saloon, Stagecoach, Hangovers, Lost Dog Tavern, Park Bench & Churchill’s Pub. $25. Ghosts Tours
Capturing the Spirit of Oakland 2013 Halloween Tours Witness the magnificent final resting place of Atlanta’s sons and daughters during the Capturing the Spirit of Oakland 2013 Halloween Tours. Hear first-hand accounts about our city’s past, narrated by a host of Oakland’s eternal “residents.” Bring a flashlight and wear comfortable walking shoes. Guided tours start at 5:30 p.m. each night at the Bell Tower and last approximately one hour. Free-$20. Thurs., Oct. 24-27, 5:30 p.m.
Halloween Ghost Tours Join Ghosts of Marietta for a lantern-led walk through the historic streets of Marietta, where some residents chose to never leave. Whether it is the departed spirit of a civil war soldier, or a mysterious resident of one of Marietta’s stately homes or businesses, you will hear the stories behind these mysteries and maybe, if you’re lucky, experience them as well. Fox Theatre Ghost Light Tours The Melting Pot Midtown location has partnered with the Fox Theatre to offer a special dinner and a tour package in conjunction with the Fox Theatre’s first ever Ghost Light Tours. After bringing their ticket from the tour, guests can enjoy a three-course dinner for $29. Sat., Oct. 26, 7-10 p.m., Tue., Oct. 29, 7-10 p.m. and Wed., Oct. 30, 7-10 p.m.

The Phantoms of the Orchestra Phantoms at the Orchestra is the theme for this year’s Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Halloween concert. Join them in costume and prepare to be entranced as the “phantoms” return to haunt the hall. $15-$20. Georgia A-Scary-Um The Georgia Aquarium is transforming into an A-Scary-Um just in time for Halloween! Complete with trick-or-treating, decorations, and music in the six distinct galleries of the aquarium, this family friendly event is sure to be a spooky good time. Kids 12 and under in costume are free with a paid adult or an Annual Passholder. Free-$29.95. Stone Mountain Pumpkin Fest Enjoy the colors of fall with attractions, games, shows and more at the 11th Annual Stone Mountain Pumpkin Fest. Premiering this year is the Spookley’s A-MAZE-ING Adventure maze, and Pumpkinpalooza an audience interactive game show. Combine fall fun with the regular Stone Moutain Park attractions for a great time. $22.00-$31.25. Fridays-Sundays, 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Continues through Oct. 27. Stone Mountain Park, 1000 Robert E. Day of the Dead The Atlanta History Center’s annual family program, Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos, hosts a day of cultural exploration. Visitors of all ages enjoy learning about this ancient festival rooted in Mexican heritage and that serves as a way for families to remember their deceased loved ones while celebrating their children and the continuity of life. Smiling faces, swirling brilliant colors, storytelling, elaborately decorated altars designed to honor lost family and friends, authentic Mexican food, music, and variety of performances are highlights of this celebration. Atlanta Beltline Doggy Halloween Parade and Costume Contest Halloween and costume contests are for everyone this year. Bring your pooch in full costume for a howling good time. Start on the Beltline behind Petsmart on Ponce de Leon Avenue at 2 p.m. $5 requested donation to walk in parade. $20 to enter costume contest. 100 percent of contributions go to vetting and feeding Animal Action Rescue foster dogs. Sun., Oct. 27, 2 p.m.
Six Flags Over Georgia Fright Fest Fright Fest returns at Six Flags Over Georgia this Halloween. Join them as they transform the park into a spook existence with ghouls, goblins, and ghosts. Family-friendly fun is also available with pumpkin painting and trick-or-treating, but once the sun goes down, the undead will rise. Free-$59.99. Trick or Treat at The Children’s Museum Wanted: Little trick-or-treaters! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta invites princesses, monsters, superheroes, and goblins to celebrate Halloween with crafts, a costume parade, a dance party and more. $6-$15. Owl-O-Ween The Owl-O-Ween Hot Air Balloon Festival features more than a dozen hot air balloons, trick-or-treating, tethered balloon rides, pyrotechnic skydivers, beer tents, an artists market, and more. Fernbank Boo-seum The Fernbank Museum will turn into a Boo-Seum as a special treat for Halloween. So don your costumes and get there early so you can try the Halloween Treats beginning at 10 a.m. while supplies last. Look for special treat stations throughout the Museum.
