Andre 3000's Jimi Hendrix accent in 'All is By My Side'

The first clip to recent writer/director John Ridley's Hendrix biopic hit the web today and Andre 3000 looks every bit the part. Ridley, who won best screenplay Oscar for 12 Years a Slave, wrote the seven-years-in-the-making film without including any of Hendrix's classic music, which has been notoriously impossible to secure rights to. But the New York Times has already given it an early thumbs-up. In this clip, Hendrix's future manager Chas Chandler is trying to convince the guitarist that he needs to come to London, while Hendrix explains his intent to defy easy categorization. Apparently, he was already practicing his affected British accent, too.
The film premieres in the U.S. this month at SXSW. Peep more details about that screening at Rolling Stone.
