Scalawag' launches in Atlanta
A new magazine giving life to Southern politics and culture kicks off a local launch.
Celebrate stories of the South with Scalawag, a new magazine of Southern politics and culture, as it celebrates its launch with a party at Mulberry Fields Community Garden. Scalawag published its first issue just a year ago (its Summer 2016 cover may seen above) and has covered issues such as racial disparity in post-Katrina New Orleans and the root causes of food deserts in North Carolina, among other important issues affecting the South. The launch party will feature food from Ria’s Bluebird, a signature cocktail, and music from Rooftop Knights and DJ Amari Tariq. Attendees can also pick up Scalawag’s fifth and latest issue at the event and enjoy 50 percent off the subscription price.
