First Slice 3-17-16: Deal's move on 'religious liberty'
$6 million in frozen pineapples - er, cocaine - was seized in Savannah
Will Gov. Nathan Deal sign the revised "religious liberty" bill that landed on his desk last night? Earlier this month, he spoke out against the potential of such a bill, saying "I hope that we can all just take a deep breath, recognize that the world is changing around us, and recognize that it is important that we protect fundamental religious beliefs... But we don’t have to discriminate against other people in order to do that. And that’s the compromise that I’m looking for.”
Speaking of weed, 300 pounds of it were grabbed by federal officers in Georgia in early March, as were "347 pounds of cocaine, valued at more than $6 million, in a container of frozen pineapples" at the port of Savannah.
Sea World is finally ending its orca program - the current killer whales will be the last generation to live at the park.
