Omnivore - Ethiopian restaurant opens in College Park

Bole serves good food with lots of charm

We visited a new Ethiopian restaurant, Bole (1640 Virginia Ave., 404-549-9111), this week. The restaurant is located in a strip mall in College Park, a short drive from downtown. We had a good, inexpensive meal, combining three different plates into one gigantic serving.

The restaurant’s dining room is overseen by a pair of totally charming women who are happy to give you advice. We ordered the usual doro wat,  chicken cooked in an intense red-pepper sauce; lamb chunks sauteed in spicy butter with peppers and onions; and a combination of three or four veggies. Everything was good.

“Bole” is what Ethiopians call an area surrounding an airport, by the way. More in Grazing this week.
