Omnivore - Lunch at Campagnolo

A disappointment

I returned to Campagnolo Monday for lunch. Four of us found the restaurant literally empty, so we got super-dooper service.

Lunch looked better than it tasted, I’m very sorry to say. The polenta that anchored the (nicely grilled) shrimp was cold. And I have to say that $14 is a pretty disconcerting price for a lunch dish like this.

Two friends at the table ordered the fantastic-sounding two-patty burger with mortadella, pepperoni, and provolone. You could taste the covert yumminess, sadly muffled by overcooking of the meats.

I have a first look at the restaurant coming up this week. I’ll reiterate what I said in that: the place is beautiful and great fun, with excellent service. But the food ain’t up to the ambiance.
