Quick Bites: Fellini's in Buckhead expands, East Georgia-style 'cue replaces One Star Ranch, and more

Atlanta’s first Whole Foods 365 store will open at the forthcoming North Decatur Square shopping plaza that is slated to open in spring of 2018. The “more sensibly priced” Whole Foods will also feature "several other chef-driven and fast-casual restaurants" in a 90,000-square-foot space, according to What Now Atlanta. 

Buckhead’s Fellini’s and LaFonda locations (2809 Peachtree Road) will be torn down and replaced with a new Fellini’s that will have a larger dining room, a patio, and more parking, according to BuckheadView. Fellini’s owner Clay Harper previously announced that LaFonda would undergo renovations and would reopen in the same space. However, once renovations began, Harper decided that the space was not big enough for both restaurants.

The newest location of South City Kitchen is scheduled to open next Tues., May 24, at 3350 Peachtree Road N.W. in Buckhead. Chef Jason Starnes and his team promise to deliver all the South City Kitchen classics plus inventive, seasonally-inspired dishes exclusively for the Buckhead restaurant.

Buckhead BBQ will replace One Star Ranch at 25 Irby Ave. this month. The new restaurant will dish out "East Georgia-style” ‘cue with sides such as homemade mac ‘n cheese, fresh vegetables, gourmet salads along with craft cocktails and craft beers, according to Tomorrow’s News Today. One Star Ranch, which the owners plan to reopen in a new location, was located in Buckhead for 25 years.

Next Mon., May 23, at 6:30 p.m. Roswell’s Table & Main will host a five-course charity dinner to benefit the Southern Foodways Alliance. At the Drinks for Dinner Piggy Bank Dinner, mixologist Greg best (Ticonderoga Club) and chefs Woolery Back (Table & Main), Richard Neal (5 & 10), Jason Paolini (Linton’s in the Garden), Zeb Stevenson (Watershed on Peachtree), and Vivian Lee (Osteria Mattone) will create beverage and dish pairings.

Seafood spot The Crab City has opened at 3025 Turner Hill Road by Stonecrest Marketplace in Lithonia. Expect “authentic Cajun food with a Southern touch,” such as lobster, mussel, oyster and crab boils along with salmon and shrimp burgers, po boys, and more, according to the AJC.
