The Makan team’s Krog Street Market concept has undergone a name change. The steamed bun joint formerly known as Betty Hsu’s Baos will be called Suzy Siu’s Baos when it opens this fall. Co-owner Michael Lo told Eater the new name works as a combination of traditional Southern American names like Mary Jo and the “obviously Asian” name Siu.

Brandon Bailey has replaced opening chef Bryan Stoffelen as executive chef at Inman Quarter hotspot Bread and Butterfly. Co-owner Billy Allin told Eater Stoffelen left his post to have more time for family and leisure. Bailey, who’s moving over from the Allins’ Cakes & Ale, has worked under chef Daniel Boulud as well as at Atlanta’s Repast and Sobban. He will make changes to the menu over time.
Pellerin Real Estate's forthcoming $20 million Grant Park redevelopment project, the Beacon Atlanta (1040 Grant St.), has brought on Third Street Goods in its first round of tenants. The neighborhood market, founded by local bartenders Kathryn DiMenichi and Holli Medley, features only small-batch retailers. Third Street Goods will be a combination of a farmers market and a large grocery store.
Savannah-based B's Cracklin' Barbeque (2061 Main St. N.W.) will host the first of two soft openings the week of Sept. 15, pitmaster Bryan Furman told Eater. Recently named to Southern Living’s list of the 50 best barbecue restaurants in the South for 2016, B’s Cracklin’ will serve chopped whole hog, pork ribs, chicken, and brisket.

Retro soda-pop and candy shop franchise Rocket Fizz opened its second metro Atlanta location at 115 Clairemont Ave. in Decatur the weekend of Aug. 26. Rocket Fizz offers nearly 400 flavors of soda, 500 types of candy and novelty gift items.
Souper Jenny’s Jenny Levison will host a soup competition and tasting event on Oct. 23. Held in Souper Jenny’s parking lot, the chef-driven Souptoberfest festival will feature soup creations from 25 of the city’s chefs and restaurateurs. Chefs including Linda Harrell (Cibo e Beve), Nick Leahy (Saltyard), and Tom Murphy (Murphy’s) will cook up their favorite soup and dish out unlimited servings from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Zadie Project, Levison’s new initiative that aims to feed hungry children throughout Atlanta.
