Erin Gibson and Bryan Safi take their bold and sassy podcast Throwing Shade on the road

"Feminasty" Erin Gibson and "homosensual" Bryan Safi record a live episode of their comedy podcast, Throwing Shade, at The Earl.

No value assignedFor many, “throwing shade” frequent occurrence that arises when freely chit-chatting with friends. Pals and UCB alum Erin Gibson and Bryan Safi turned this sly jab into a career. In 2011, they teamed up to create the wildly popular comedy podcast Throwing Shade which provides social commentary on issues geared towards women and LGBT communities packaged with as little reverence as possible.

The dynamic duo hurl shade at many political issues (such as gay rights, Donald Trump, the pope, etc.) as well as the more casual pop culture topics like TV shows and DIY crafts mixed in with personal anecdotes. Think “The Daily Show” but with much less rigor, and much, much more sass. While Comedy Central’s beloved satirical news program starts to dwindle, other networks are picking up the baton. HBO lured John Oliver for “Last Week Tonight,” TBS fiddled with the news mold with great success with Samantha Bee’s “Full Frontal,” and now TV Land looks to make Throwing Shade the new late-night gabfest.

“Feminasty” Gibson and “homosensual” Safi will hop behind their own news desk to bring their brand of aggressively energetic fire to flip and tear the most ridiculous news stories of the week. While the show doesn’t air until January 2017, Gibson and Safi have been bringing their podcast on the road, letting the shitstorm fly in cities around the country. Shade will be thrown all about.
