SING LOUD FOR THE SUNSHINE: Atlanta Musical Theatre Festival captivates audiences on August 6-7.

Back for its third year, the Atlanta Musical Theatre Festival is on its way to becoming the premiere musical theater in the Southeast. Actor and producer Benjamin Davis founded the event in 2015 after participating in the New York Musical Festival and seeing a need for an event like it in Atlanta. Every year since, the festival strives to become  a creative space for local actors, directors, choreographers, musicians, and all theater artists to make connections and improve their craft. For 2018, the festival showcases four musicals: Wonder Women, a story exploring the hidden truths behind the origin of Wonder Woman; Red: A Crayon’s Musical, based on Michael Hall’s children’s book, a family musical about community, self discovery, and being true to one’s self; Sundays at Four, where family and faith collide in a generational story about life’s difficult lessons; and The Fairy Hoax, a magical coming-of-age story for the whole family.

$17-$50. 8 p.m. Mon.-Tues., Aug. 6-7 and Aug. 13-14. Out Front Theatre, 999 Brady Ave. N.W. 404-448-2755. www.theamtf.com.
