Richard Buckner plays Eddie’s Attic Sept. 7
The outsider-country songwriter plays songs from ‘Surrender’ and beyond
Since the arrival of Richard Buckner’s 1994 debut album, Bloomed, the outsider singer-songwriter has spent a lifetime crafting dazzling and singularly Americana folk songs. Each number flows from soft melodic guitar patterns to experimental, dissonant soundscapes. Each song carries a heavy heart that’s brought to life by his deeply personal lyrics, and a familiar voice that’s both intimate and profound. His latest album, Surrounded, was made entirely using an electronic autoharp; an ambitious new sound that maintains Buckner’s roots in his beautifully haunting alt-country arrangements.
