Music venues in Atlanta are struggling with the ongoing vicissitudes of the pandemic as many are forced to postpone or even cancel shows, but some in the industry are trying to put a positive spin on the situation. “It’s been a lot of rolling with the punches, a lot of monitoring health and monitoring comfort of the bands,” said Masquerade promoter Joe Warren. His downtown venue has a full schedule of shows already booked, and he believes 2022 will be a year of adapting to the virus as opposed to shutting down because of it. Kyle Ransom of the punk band The Tomb Tones is optimistic that live music could make a real comeback. “I do believe that people doing the responsible thing, getting vaccinated and boosted, will be able to manage an acceptable level of risk in the hopefully not-too-distant future,” he said. gpb.org
