NEWS BRIEF: Extra space in churches to become affordable housing
Wells Fargo helps fund Enterprise Community Partners project
Unused space in Atlanta churches, synagogues and other buildings of faith-based organizations is being turned into affordable housing, according to an announcement by the nonprofit Enterprise Community Partners. A grant of $8.5 million from the Wells Fargo Foundation will help convert underutilized areas into affordable homes and community facilities. “To meet my administration’s ambitious goal of creating or preserving 20,000 units of affordable housing, we will need the assistance of all facets of our community using all tools at our disposal,” said Mayor Andre Dickens. apnews.com
