NEWS BRIEF: New ramp will connect BeltLine to Ponce De Leon Avenue
BeltLine to be more ADA-compatible
Construction to Begin on Ramp Connecting BeltLine to Ponce De Leon Avenue
Plans are underway to build a ramp that will connect the Beltline’s Eastside Trail with Ponce De Leon Avenue. The ADA-accessible ramp will allow direct access to Whole Foods, a CVS pharmacy on Ponce, Green’s Beverages and the front entrance of Ponce City Market. Unlike a similar ramp already in place where Old Fourth Ward meets Inman Park, its surface will not be made of serrated metal in order to spare the feet of dogs, spokesperson Jenny Odom says.
Other upgrades in the works for the BeltLine include a raised crosswalk over Ponce, improvements for pedestrians and cyclists, more trees, and new lighting. Construction is expected to take about 18 months. urbanize.city
