NEWS BRIEF: Warnock wants lower medicine prices for seniors, diabetics
Diabetics pay $1 out of every $4 spent on healthcare.
Georgia U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock is pushing a plan to lower drug costs for seniors, he announced last week. “This bill focuses specifically on lowering the cost of prescription drugs for seniors on Medicare Part D,” Warnock told reporters. “Hopefully, we can get this done sooner than later. It certainly can’t happen soon enough for seniors who are feeling the pinch right now.”
Warnock said diabetes affects 12 percent of Georgia residents, and that $1 out of every $4 is spent on those who suffer from the disease. “And so the way to look at this is as a part of a larger comprehensive effort to lower the costs of healthcare in general, which gives us what we need to provide more services to more people in a more efficient and cost effective way.” georgiarecorder.com
