NEWS BRIEF: Phipps Plaza ups its game with new development
Paradise re-found
Shopping malls all over Atlanta are losing customers and tenants but Phipps Plaza in Buckhead is hoping a drastic makeover will keep it afloat.
A redeveloped area of the property will become a 152-room NOBU hotel and restaurant, a Life Time athletic club and co-working space, and a Citizens Culinary Market food hall, as well as the North American headquarters of Novelis, the global aluminum and copper manufacturer.
Additionally, part of what had been mostly concrete surfaces will be turned into 30,000 feet of green space that can host concerts, weddings and corporate events. “It’s what I am most excited about,” says Phipps manager Eric Howard. “It will be where people gather, whether coming to shop with us or not.” globalatlanta.com
