Morehouse College alumni and students are protesting the hiring of a white woman as an administrator at the all-male, majority Black institution. Paula Resley started work on May 10 as Morehouse’s chief brand officer and vice president of strategic communications, marketing and admissions in order to direct “brand and messaging strategy as well as targeted recruitment and digital engagement,” a press release said.

Calls, emails, and social media posts indicate a strong reluctance to accept Resley at the school, with one graduate writing on LinkedIn that he had “yet to see a reasonable explanation of this anywhere.” Another called the hiring decision an “insult to the legacy of Morehouse and a blow to the brand.”

Resley defended herself on LinkedIn and asserted her commitment to stay in the job, while campus leaders declined to comment on the controversy. insidehighered.com
