The times they are a-changin’. In another loss to historic Buckhead housing, the Harrison Jones house, located at 660 West Paces Ferry Road, is no longer. Completed in 1928, the five-bedroom, Georgian-style, brick house was one of the first built on West Paces Ferry Road.

This is just the latest loss to historic Atlanta. In a list organized by Atlanta City Council Member Mary Norwood, 24 homes built in the early 20th century were designate as historically significant. These include Villa Lamar at the corner of West Paces Ferry and Castlewood Road, and the James Dickey house across from the Governor’s mansion.

Of this latest demolition, Thornton Kennedy from the Northside Neighbor exclaims, “It is a punch to the gut for those who care about such things, which I firmly believe is most of us.” mdjonline.com
