Old Atlanta continues to fade

An Atlanta fast food staple, Zesto, has had its second closure of the last year. Last December, the location on Moreland Ave in Little Five Points was shuttered after a tree fell through the restaurant. This time, it’s the Zesto on Piedmont Road in Buckhead saying goodbye after more than 60 years of service.

Owners Jimbo and Leigh Ann Livaditis say that the lot housing the Zesto location was sold to a currently undisclosed buyer. The Livaditis’ cite difficulties in staying open, including the recent labor shortages.

On their last day, Zesto saw an outpouring of love from their community. "We've been here the longest of anybody continuously running, so I think everyone just wants to get one last taste of nostalgia.”

Zesto remains open at 1181 United Ave SE and 151 Forest Pkwy, with a third location in Tyrone. fox5atlanta.com
