NEWS BRIEF: Warehouse workers in Atlanta accuse Amazon of poor working conditions
‘We are the backbone of this company’
"We’re fighting for what we deserve."
Workers at an Amazon warehouse in East Point are voicing complaints about the retailer’s labor practices. They maintain they are being exploited with unsafe working conditions and low wages, longtime employee Karen Tucker says in a statement issued last week, and are demanding an increase in pay.
“Livable wages, safer working conditions, dignity and respect for all workers is long overdue," Tucker says. "We’re fighting for what we deserve. We are the backbone of this company and without us, there is no Amazon. It’s time for the public to hear and know what we endure to get customers’ packages out on time.” Details: engadget.com
