Kennesaw State University announced Sunday that one of its students was among 153 people killed in a stampede in Seoul on Saturday night. Steven Blesi, a 20-year-old international business major, was one of 11 KSU undergraduates on a study-abroad trip to South Korea. The others are reported to be safe, school officials said.

His father, Steve Blesi, tweeted on Sunday that his family had received confirmation of his son’s death from local authorities. The deadly crush occurred when a large crowd of Halloween party-goers crammed into a downhill alleyway in Itaewon, part of Seoul’s nightlife district. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steven’s family and friends as they mourn this incomprehensible loss,” KSU President Kathy Schwaig said in a statement. “We have been in contact with Steven’s family and have offered all available resources of the university to them.” Details: 11alive.com
