FREE LUNCH MUSIC: Pianist, vocalist and songwriter Anita Aysola performs a free noontime concert as part of the Rialto Center for the Performing Arts’ ‘Feed Your Senses’ series Wed., Jul. 19.

Anita Aysola, Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University — As part of “Feed Your Senses,” the Rialto Center for the Performing Arts’ free monthly concert series, pianist, vocalist and songwriter Anita Aysola performs with Justin Chesarek (percussion) and Robby Handley (bass) Wed., Jul. 19. Aysola’s music draws from jazz, blues, classic rock and traditional Indian styles. Her single, “Heartbeat,” a response to Georgia’s abortion ban, debuted exclusively in Rolling Stone India and garnered several awards including the 2020 L.A. Music Video Award for Best Social Commentary. “Feed Your Senses” performances, which are free and open to the public, take place every third Wednesday at noon in the lobby of the Rialto Center downtown.

Kirkwood Ballers Club, eyedrum — Held on the third Thursday of every month, Kirkwood Ballers Club is celebrating its 19th anniversary as an open forum for experimental music-making, currently in residence at eyedrum in the West End. The individual 15 minute performances begin promptly at 8:30 pm. The lineup for July 20 includes Ipek Eginli, Cidni Lingard (Jim Carrey’s son), Misic, Rez Skykitty, MEANRUSE, Lake Collins, Twin Trances, meaning of everything, Melodic Monster, The Singing Knives and RRRMxco.

Gabrielle Beteag Solo Recital, Morningside Presbyterian Church — Ascendant mezzo-soprano opera star and metro Atlanta native Gabrielle Beteag will perform a solo recital at Morningside Presbyterian Church Sat., July 29, as part of the Nancy Frampton Rising Artists Series. No stranger to Atlanta opera audiences, Beatag is a former Atlanta Opera Studio Player who sang Mercedes in the 2021 Big Tent production of The Threepenny Carmen. The concert is Beatag’s first concert performance in Atlanta since she joined the San Francisco Opera in 2021 as an Adler Fellow. The program at Morningside, “Awake My Soul,” will feature works by Cécile Chaminade, Ruth Crawford Singer and Ralph Vaughn Williams.

Tablao Flamenco Live! Presented by Berdolé, Red Light Cafe — -Rooted in centuries-old Moorish musical traditions, flamenco has evolved into an iconic expression of Spanish, and particularly Andalusian, culture. The Tablao Flamenco troupe features Juan Cristian Puig (vocals, guitar), who played the role of guitarist and singer Joaquin in the Alliance Theatre’s 2013 production of Zorro; Emrah Kotan (percussion), Director of the Jazz and World Percussion Ensembles at Agnes Scott College; Marilia Quevedo, a native Argentinian and professional flamenco dancer; Erica Poole (“La Eritaña”), a flamenco dancer with a highly personalized style; and Julie Moon a/k/a Julie Galle Baggenstoss, performer and choreographer with the Atlanta Opera, Georgia State University’s School of Music and the Latin American Association who teaches flamenco at Emory University.

Xylouris White and W8ing4UFOs, The EARL — Touring in support of their fifth album, The Forest in Me, Xylouris White returns to The Earl for an evening of music that combines elements of Greek folk music, improvisational jazz and avant-rock. Crete-born singer and lute player George Xylouris and Australian drummer Jim White (Dirty Three) have been performing together since 2013. Their collaboration draws listeners into an engagingly exploratory realm rich with compelling melodic, harmonic and rhythmic textures. Opening for the duo is Atlanta’s own elusively classifiable, genre-fluid ensemble W8ing4UFOs.
