The Core Self at Oglethorpe University Museum of Art explores identity as something layered, constructed, and continuously evolving. The exhibition considers how personal and collective experience shape the ways people understand themselves and others.

Across the work on view, themes of visibility, concealment, and transformation come into focus. Rather than presenting identity as fixed, the exhibition emphasizes it as a dynamic exchange between memory, culture, and perception.

By returning to the idea of a “core self,” the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on what remains stable amid change, and how visual expression can give form to complicated inner experience.
