The June event of this poetry reading series, held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, features Olive Hemmings, who will share her essays on her travels in Africa and the Caribbean. Hemmings holds a Ph.D. in Theology, Ethics, and Culture from Claremont Graduate University, has taught at Northern Caribbean University in Jamaica and currently teaches at Washington Adventist University in Maryland in the areas of Bible; New Testament Greek; World Religions; Social, Biblical, and Theological Ethics; and Dogmatic Theology. She is an ordained Seventh Day Adventist minister. An open mic session will follow the first set of readings, providing local poets an opportunity to share their work.
