From the venue:In a communal residence in a New England city, four mentally handicapped men live under the supervision of an earnest, but increasingly "burned out" young social worker named Jack. Norman, a doughnut shop worker who can't resist the sweet pastries, takes pride in the bundle of keys around his waist; Lucien has the mind of a five-year-old but imagines that he can read and comprehend the weighty books he carries; Arnold, the ringleader, a hyperactive, compulsive chatterer, suffers from deep-seated insecurities and a persecution complex; while Barry, a brilliant schizophrenic, devastated by the rejection of his father, fantasizes that he's a golf pro. With scenes from their daily lives, "little things" become momentous (and often funny) and we are reminded that the handicapped, like the rest of us, want only to love, laugh and find meaning and purpose in the brief time that they are allotted on this earth.
