Fractal Reflections

Local mixed-media artist Lillian Blades has had her art on display in collections in South Africa, Germany, Trinidad, and the Bahamas, as well as closer-to-home places like the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and East Atlanta Library. An exhibition of her latest work, Fractal Reflections, includes “Mirror Mirror” (above) and opens this week at September Gray Art Gallery. Blades juxtaposes the harsh edges of broken mirrors and reflective glass alongside softer layers of buttons, frames, and other found objects to symbolize the dueling natures of confrontation and healing at work during self-reflection.
