Nonprofit organization Canine Companions for Independence works to help provide assistance dogs to people with disabilities. Canine Companions also throws the annual fundraising walking event. Retired First Lieutenant Jeffrey Adams and his service dog, Sharif, lead a kick-off ceremony.
