Wally Shoup & Evan Lipson + Jeff Crompton & Kenito Murray
From the venue:
Seattle saxophonist Wally Shoup joins Chattanooga bass player and Shaking Ray Levis cohort Evan Lipson for a night of improved music. It’s rare for Shoup to make an Atlanta appearance these days, but his Southern roots run deep. “I got turned on to free jazz and improvisation through WREK, particularly a show called WAVES (Greg Diddy), and the Hampton Grease Band were a major influence,” he says. “I saw them live several times — life changing, as they say.”
Over the years, Shoup has performed with the best, famous and obscure masters, ranging from Nels Cline and Thurston Moore to Jack Wright and Davey Williams. Jeff Crompton and Kenito Murray also perform.
