AntiquiTEA

Tuesday November 5, 2019 04:00 PM EST
Cost: Free

From the venue:

Between 1988 and 1991, the Emory University Museum of Art and Archaeology was transformed by the acquisition of more than 1,300 works of ancient American art from the collection of Carol and William C. Thibadeau, which resulted in the 1993 expansion of the museum. The Thibadeau family continues to enrich the collections through loans as well. Enjoy afternoon tea and scones as Dr. Megan O’Neil, faculty curator of the art of the Americas and assistant professor of Art History, discusses objects from the Thibadeau collection in which ancient artists evoked perishable substances or ephemeral experiences in durable materials such as an extraordinary pair of Late Classic Maya jadeite earspools.
