Good Mews offers reading sessions for students in grades 1 through 8 (minimum age is 6). Does your child love to read, need extra reading practice or would they like to help socialize shelter cats by reading out loud to them? This program is designed to help children sharpen their reading skills and to provide enrichment for our cats and kittens waiting to be adopted. The interaction also teaches kids the importance of empathy, animal welfare and community service. Registration is required as spots fill up quickly! New dates are added every month.
Students should bring a book to read and wear comfortable clothes as they will be sitting on the floor and interacting with the cats. This activity is free, but we do gratefully accept donations for the care of the cats. A list of shelter supplies can be found on the website.
